Meet the team
Meet our wonderful team who make Involve Interpreter what it is!
Meet our Interpreters and Translators
Our in-house team are fully-qualified and NRCPD registered.
I joined Involve Interpreter in March 2020. I’ve been signing for most of my life, as both of my parents are deaf and their friends all used sign language. The proudest moment of my interpreting career was setting up my business to provide training for sign language interpreters. I have little spare time but when I am free, I spend time with my twin boys, either driving them to football or watching them play. I enjoy watching films and socialising with friends.
LINDA BRUCE
BSL Team Manager
I joined Involve Interpreter in August 2019. I was 19 when I started learning BSL, inspired by a Deaf family who I had the privilege of meeting whilst I was working as an Air Hostess. There’s many special moments of my career, but my proudest would be when I graduated from university and interpreting for a Deaf mum during labour – she had a beautiful baby girl. In my spare time I love to go on days out with my family, weekend trips away to our Caravan and catch up with friends.
EMMA BRITTON
BSL Interpreter
I joined Involve Interpreter in 2020. I started learning BSL when I was 6 years old so I could communicate with the Deaf children I went to school with. My favourite moment I’ve had during my interpreting career was interpreting for Glastonbury and other festivals, but the proudest is having the opportunity to see Deaf professionals achieve amazing things in research. I like spending time with my family and being a NW ASLI regional rep.
SAMANTHA VANTERPOOL
BSL Interpreter
I’ve been at Involve Interpreter since April 2021. When I was 8, I made friends with a Deaf boy who moved to the UK from Hong Kong, so I started learning BSL so that I could communicate with him. I have two favourite/proudest moments as an interpreter; the first was interpreting at 10 Downing Street (twice) and the second was being flown to Malta to interpret for a game show which had a Deaf participant. In my spare time I like drinking coffee, so you can often find me in a coffee shop. I also do martial arts.
CRAIG BARTLETT
BSL Interpreter
I’ve only worked at Involve Interpreter since October 2021, but it feels like a lot longer. I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful team and amazing company! I started learning BSL when I was a teenager, inspired by a Deaf girl called Amy who joined my girl guides. My proudest moments being an interpreter are bumping into my Deaf students years later and hearing about their amazing achievements and journeys. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, bake and volunteer for the Deaf children’s charity.
KIRSTIE ARCHER
BSL Interpreter
I joined Involve Interpreter in December 2021. I was 23 when I did my L1 in BSL, then did a course every year for the next 16 years! I’d gone back to college to do other courses and got the learning bug! My favourite moment of my interpreting career was travelling to Vancouver for my job and working with such a variety of people and personalities. In my spare time I like to go to gym classes, like Zumba and body combat. I also like crafting, walking, card making and playing board games with my family.
LYN KIRWAN
BSL Interpreter
I started at Involve Interpreter in July 2021. I started to use BSL (British Sign Language) from the age of 9 years old. Before then I used SSE (Sign Supported English) and ISL (Irish Sign Language). I have been teaching sign language for over 20 years now, but have recently also started working as an interpreter. I love to learn and do new things, I like to have new challenges to keep active, learning and progressing in life. In my spare time I enjoy travelling and hiking.
ANDREW STANLEY
BSL Translator
I started working at Involve in February 2023. I began learning BSL properly when I attended the University of Wolverhampton to study Deaf Studies and I was one of 30 apprentice Interpreters to be trained through the BSL Futures project in Wales in 2006. The proudest moment in my career was providing BSL access to people across Wales when Assembly Members were debating the proposal of the BSL Bill. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family.
LYDIA JONES
BSL Interpreter
I joined Involve in May 2022. As I am Deaf , I have been signing all my life. My first language was SASL which I used at the Deaf school I went to and at home. I moved to the UK when I was 20 and acquired BSL. My proudest interpreting moment was being part of a Deaf/hearing interpreting team at EFSLI as us Deaf interpreters were given equal status and visibility to our hearing counterparts. I like to spend time with my family, mostly taking my daughter to various activies and I regularly swim: I have completed the English channel swim twice!
CLARE CHILTON
BSL Translator
I joined Involve Interpreter in February 2023. I started learning BSL at university and graduated with a degree in Media with BSL and Deaf Studies. One of my proudest moments so far is registering as an RSLI. But the proudest moments come when a booking is successful, a rapport is built, and someone wishes to work with me again. Outside of work, I love learning, reading, walking and the sun!
LEAH THOMPSON
BSL Interpreter
I joined Involve Interpreter in February 2023. When I was 16, I started working for my local library when a Deaf customer became a regular user of the photocopier. No staff members could communicate in sign language, so I took it upon myself to take up BSL classes at night. It was a proud moment for me to then interpret for that person in a professional capacity after graduating from university as an interpreter many years later. In my spare time I like being outside in nature, walking & wild swimming. I am also an active member of my local fundraising group.
RACHEL GREEN
BSL Interpreter
Meet the rest of the team
Meet the people who make things happen behind the scenes!
I joined Involve Interpreter in June 2018. I love working with the interpreters and learning about BSL – every day I learn something new. It’s great when I get to go into our studio and watch the team film content for the projects we get asked to work on. I enjoy playing my guitar, learning new songs, going to watch Liverpool FC and then meeting up with friends afterwards. I like to cook and bake, I find it relaxing. Also, spending time with my son. The pair of us love going to watch films together!
MICHAEL GRIFFITHS
Operational Manager
I joined Involve Interpreter in 2021. I liked the ethos of the organisation – both from a technical and personal perspective. We provide a service for a community which is often overlooked and strive to make services accessible to all. When I’m not working I enjoy playing the drums. I rehearse and play gigs with my band all over London and beyond. I also enjoy playing and watching football, going to the cinema and gaming online. I’m very geeky in that respect!
CHRIS MCQUEEN
Head of Interpreter Sales
I joined Involve in 2019 as Sales Support for the AV side of the business, and when I returned from maternity leave, I became part time Sales Support for Involve Interpreter and in January 2022, I became full time again. I love that we’re helping companies become more accessible and working with a great, friendly team. I have been welcomed immensely by the team and feel part of the family. In my spare time I love spending time with my family, going for walks and watching Disney films together.
BETH SUTCH
Internal Interpreter Account Manager
I came up with the concept for Involve Interpreter in 2018, having worked at Involve for over 13 years & the Martin Dawes group for 25+ years. My favourite thing about my job is being able to provide a service that supports individuals that need it most, which is very important to me and is something I’m privileged to be able to achieve with the projects I am involved with at Involve. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, I travelling, music, good food and the occasional glass of red.
MICK ROACH
I’ve worked at Involve Interpreter since it started, looking after its online presence and marketing strategy. Working for Involve Interpreter has been an amazing experience, it has taught me so much about the Deaf community! I have a 2-year-old Pomapoo named Ruby who takes up most of my spare time, and I also like cooking, seeing my friends and dragging myself to the gym!
AMY REDFEARN
Digital Marketing Manager
I’ve worked at Involve Interpreter since the beginning of 2021, running the social media accounts and looking after its online presence. My favourite thing about working at Involve is the lovely, supportive team. I have learnt so much while working here! I like to spend time with 3 year old nephew, Axel and going to watch live music with my friends.
